Kid language

This week has been really full of things the kids say that they believe are correct, but aren't. And I'm not just talking about the "No I'm not" "yes, you are" sorts of comments. Here are a few:
  • Monday night Addie explained to me that she didn't have to go to school the next day because it is "reflection day." She really wanted to know what Reflection Day was, which prompted a hysterical conversation about politics and civics. She now is determined that she wants to run for Senate and even double checked "you would vote for me, right Mommy?"
  • Muddy just emailed me with: I just read Ben the dinosaur book that was in the soccer bag. I asked why one of the dinosaurs had pincer-type horns on its head in the middle and he said, "so they can scare off creditors." Not sure if I misheard him or not, I asked him to repeat himself. Sure enough, he said, "creditors" not predators.
  • Another story from Muddy-- we came home and he took two of Addie's Hello Kitty stickers and put them back-to-back so they made a double-sided sticker. He showed me and I said, "Ben, you're a panic!" He said, "no I'm not -- I'm a genius!"
  • Another from Muddy-- We have been listening to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on the way to school each morning. Today as we were leaving the car, I told him we'd start it all over again when we get back in the car later today. He told me he didn't want to hear "ButtaDutta" (which is the next song that comes on on the CD). "ButtaDutta????" Oh, he meant "Anuddaonebitesadust!"

They just make me smile.

And how is it possible that my little baby Benjamin will be 4 years old on Sunday? For real? How? How? How?
